Oua·lie /wôlē/ “Land of Beautiful Waters”   I’m a little late but wanted to share travel photos of our (not-so-recent) trip to the Caribbean Island of Nevis. Our sons were 3 and 1, and my husband wanted to go on a trip just the two of us. Me – not so much! I had trepidations about leaving the boys, especially leave the country! And my husband chose the obscure Island of Nevis. Nevis?! Never heard of the place! Nonetheless, I for once was not involved in the vacation planning and also not too excited. But thankfully, PLEASANTLY surprised by the […]

It’s Been a While…

Hey friends, Long time no update, I know! Since I was last actively photographing and updating, a lot has gone on in the MB Reese family. First off, we are an Air Force family so it’s only natural that we’ve moved. Twice. We left the Fayetteville, NC area for the deep South, by way of San Antonio, Texas. We spent 6 months living in San Antonio and enjoyed living in a big city, exploring small towns of Texas, and of course – the Tex Mex cuisine. We had a really great time and new it would only be a short […]

! Puerto Rico !

Published June 2, 2012 in Personal, Travel

My husband and I took a last-minute trip with some friends to Puerto Rico!  This was my first time in PR, and we had a really great time seeing this beautiful country.  We stayed at the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort in Rio Grande.  We saw some beautiful places – such as Old San Juan, El Yunque Rain Forest, Laguna Grande Bioluminescent Bay…and our absolute favorite – the island of Culebra. Below are some highlights…

After our long winter vacation in Alaska, we decided to take a long layover in Los Angeles for the weekend!  This was my first time in California and I absolutely fell in love with Los Angeles.  The weather was perfect, I loved the changes in topography, and there seemed to be an area or something to do for every type of person.  I loved the Hollywood Hills and Beverly Hills the most.  We also visited friends who live in nearby Bakersfield.  Below are some highlights around Los Angeles – Malibu, & Santa Monica…   Save Save

Christmas in Alaska

Published January 10, 2012 in Personal, Travel

I spent three weeks visiting my in-laws in Anchorage, Alaska!  I have been to Alaska quite a few times and each one is an adventure.  However, this was my first time visiting in the dead of Winter – and boy was it freaking cold!  It was also special because it was my husband and my first time spending Christmas with his family since we’ve been married.  Overall, we had a great trip.  Below are some highlights, which include pictures around Anchorage, skiing at Alyeska Ski Resort in Girdwood, a weekend at my mother-in-law’s cabin in the Alaska Bush, and my […]

Savannah, GA

Published August 10, 2011 in Personal, Travel

After spending a month in New Orleans, my cousin accompanied me on the long road-trip home to North Carolina. On the way, we stopped and stayed a few days in Savannah, GA. Savannah was SO.CUTE. We absolutely loved the city! We stayed in a pet-friendly B&B (Foley House Inn) with my dog Zuli. I absolutely loved all of the squares in town as well as the mossy oaks – which gave a spooky ambiance.  Savannah has so much culture and charm, it is definitely a place I would love to visit again! Below are some highlights from our weekend.  We […]

New York City!

Published July 10, 2011 in Personal, Travel

I have finally visited Manhattan for the first time!  I had an absolute blast.  New York, NY is such a fabulous city!  I was able to see many different parts: Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Mid-Town, Financial District, Greenwich Village, Chelsea, SoHo, China Town, Little Italy, and even Brooklyn.  I loved all of New York, but my favorite neighborhood was West Village.  I would love to go back and see more!  Below are some highlights from my trip…

Niagara Falls

Published June 11, 2011 in Personal, Travel

Within one month, I road-tripped from North Carolina to Niagara Falls – TWICE!  It is about a 12 hour drive one way, so add that up.  Thousands of miles!  On the way to and from Niagara Falls, I was able to visit cool places like Washington, D.C., West Virginia, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Toronto and more. Niagara Falls is such a beautiful wonder of the world and I am so lucky I have been able to visit this spectacular waterfall twice (and again in a few months!).  My husband and I road the Maid of the Mist, which I […]

North Carolina Anniversary Post

Published June 1, 2011 in Personal, Travel

For the first time in five years, I can say that I have lived in the same place for ONE FULL YEAR.  FOUR WHOLE SEASONS. Well, I am truly glad that my semi-permanent residence has been North Carolina.  It is a really fabulous state, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the last year here.  I love that I live only 2 hours from mountains and 2 hours from the coast.  Not many states have snow skiing and the beach.  There is still so much to see, but I have spent many weekends road-tripping around the state and checking out all it […]

The Big Easy

Published March 8, 2011 in Personal, Travel

I just got back from a trip to NOLA (and yes, I am there often!).  Being that it’s Mardi Gras time, I wanted to post some of my favorite New Orleans pictures.  This isn’t my first New Orleans post – every once in a while, I like to remind people how much I’m obsessed with my hometown. The last picture is so special because it is of my niece and nephew on the front steps of my parents’ new home.  My childhood home was destroyed in Katrina and the rebuilding process took quite a bit a of time.  Needless to […]
