Who Dat Nation

Published February 11, 2010 in Personal

If you can’t tell by merely perusing my blog, I am from New Orleans – born and raised. I lived in the heart of the city in Lakeview for 18 years until college where I moved one hour away to attend LSU (another obsession of mine). Shortly after college, I married my high school sweetheart whose career as an Air Force pilot has ripped me from The Big Easy where I left behind my very big family and many friends and acquaintances. I have since moved about 7 times to 6 different states (and counting…) and I love my life with my husband and dog, traveling and exploring new places, constantly meeting new people from all over the world because of his career.

But while most people try not to let their demographic define them, being a New Orleans native is part of who I am! Anyone who knows me can tell you that I am BEYOND obsessed with my city. With my New Orleans photography and art on the walls, my Louisiana kitchen, fleur de lis everywhere – someone once said my house looks like “New Orleans threw up in it.” There is something about that city that you just can’t shake.

The Saints’ Super Bowl victory was more than just football to the city, it was a symbol of struggle and survival that the city has endured time after time. New Orleans needed a pick-me-up, and it was the Saints that did it. It was deemed the Big Easy for a reason – laissez faire attitude, amazing food, and such uniqueness. With every tragedy is a party and with every party is amazing crowd control!

So right now, you can imagine how proud I am to be a New Orleanian and to be a part of the WHO DAT NATION!
